First Flight

What a great experience to share for my first post. The first flight with my son as pilot in command. Having recently earned his wings, we left Skypark (near Akron Ohio) one clear, bright fall morning and flew to Mansfield, Ohio, some fifty nautical miles to the southewest, home of the Air National Guard Transport Wing. Over breakfst at the runway-side restaurant, he informed me of his decision to enter the Air National Guard. We left to fly north to Put-In-Bay, a small island in Lake Erie, on the American side south of Pellee Island. Then back to Skypark in the early afternoon.

Sitting beside him and observing him pilot the 150 with skill, issue reports over the radio with confidence, and seeing the smile on his face, I knew he had crossed over into adult-hood. I knew that he was on his way in life and at that moment, couldn't have been prouder.
